About the club

Oktoberfest of Munich Germany and Navratri/Uttarayan of Ahmedabad are the most popular and perpetual international events. Besides both, these cites have the common label of “Big Village”. After globalization in the early 90s, Ahmedabad took a quantum jump for industrial development and attracted many talented people from other states. From the year 2000 onwards, Ahmedabad started becoming a cosmopolitan city. Some of our senior Rotarian friends who were members of the Rotary Club of Ahmedabad decided to form a dynamic rotary club having cosmopolitan members and commitment for effective social service projects and fellowship as basis.

Dr. Manoj Kapoor and Mr. Madhukar Parikh talked to other friends having experience of Round table functioning as well as some friends from different walks of life. A club of initial 32 members was chartered on 28 June 2013 with Charter President Dr. Manoj Kapoor and Secretary Mr. Madhukar Parikh. DG Ashish Desai helped in expediting Rotary procedures.

Key community service projects undertaken by our club over the last 7 years include the development of Bopal Primary School, Improving learning and children engagement at Anganwadis, Women empowerment by addressing issues around their menstrual health and livelihood, Traffic awareness drive among school children, promoting Green and sustainable development through annual tree plantation and promoting appropriate solid waste management practices.

Besides, the club undertakes periodic activities like supporting cataract operations for the needy, organizing medical camps (mammography, blood sugar, etc.), distributing things of necessity (tricycles to the physically challenged, books and uniforms to the students, etc.)
